History of the Easy Guitar Club
Welcome, to the Easy Guitar Club for the absolute beginner. Let me share our history with you. My employer, Easy Financial has always encouraged their staff to give back to the community. I being a social worker in training and experience wanted to do something in the community to improve the quality of life for those most at risk.
I spent months considering all my options. Then one day I decided to do what I had been dreaming. I reached out to the local Boys and Girls Club and together we launched the Easy Guitar Club.
In October the first group of 10 children received their first free guitar lesson. Seeing that there was a waiting list, and my goal is to teach the “absolute beginner”, we opened an advance class which is taught by another volunteer.
We were amazed at the support we received from the community. Over the three months we sought donations for the club, we found friends who helped us along the way. The Pembroke Pentecostal Tabernacle, St. Luke’s Anglican Church, and Bob’s Music were very generous towards this program. Finally, we were so blessed to learn from our friends at the Boy’s and Girls Club was given a large donation from the Jason Blaine Foundation (a successful local country musician). Personally, I never heard of him but was excited that we could find such a large donation.
Currently, the main program of the Easy Guitar Club at the Boys and Girls Club works within as part of a larger free music program lead by the Boys and Girls Club of Pembroke. The Boys and Girls Club have free piano lessons, and due to the donations the possibility of students being able to access free music lessons in other instruments as volunteer stand up and give to our most amazing young talent.
